About Cheryl Williams
Cheryl Williams is an award-winning poet, children’s author, and Registered Nurse with a lifelong passion for the arts. Her journey into poetry began at just four years old, and her love for writing blossomed at the age of five when she recited the poem "Grandfather Frog" at a school event. Six years later, her life was transformed when her mother suffered a massive stroke. During those challenging times, music, writing, and poetry became her refuge, helping her cope with uncertainty and loss.
As a teenager, Cheryl channeled her creativity by writing and directing short plays for the children in her neighborhood. She also pursued her love for music, singing in church and school choirs and performing as a soloist in concerts and talent shows. Inspired by her mother’s strength and her caregiving experiences, Cheryl later pursued a career in nursing to bring healing and hope to others—just as writing and music had done for her.
Cheryl Williams is the proud recipient of the Top Female Author 2019 award in the poetry category for her book A Collection of Poems: A Journey Through Life, published by Dorrance Publishing in 2018. This acclaimed collection explores themes of resilience, hope, and the power of the human spirit.
In 2022, Cheryl expanded her creative work to children’s literature with the release of her first children’s book, A Lesson a Day: A Child’s Way. This inspiring book, dedicated to children worldwide, won first place in the Children’s Poetry Book Fest Awards 2024 and an honorable mention in the Fiction Children’s Fables category. Her second children’s book, The Brightest Star That Shines Tonight, published in 2024, is a heartfelt tribute to her late mother. Written in a narrative poetry format, it teaches children how to navigate the painful reality of loss while offering a message of love and remembrance.
Cheryl’s books are available at major retailers such as Dorrance Bookstore, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, and other online and local bookstores. As a proud member of the Long Island Authors community, Cheryl continues to empower and inspire readers of all ages through her heartfelt stories and poetry.
Cheryl Williams is also the CEO of her book company, CWNC, through which she shares her creative works and legacy with the world.
