The journey that began with one quiet book of poems in 2018 has grown in ways I could never have imagined. The last two years have been some of the most exciting yet — and they’re proof that it’s never too late for a new adventure.
A Lesson a Day on Times Square
In April 2025, my children’s book A Lesson a Day: A Child’s Way was featured on a billboard in Times Square. Seeing the little book I wrote for children shining over New York City was a moment I’ll treasure forever.
Bringing the book to life
In June 2025, my sons, three wonderful young narrators, and I gathered at a recording studio to record the audiobook for A Lesson a Day: A Child’s Way. It is now available for free on YouTube, with a full cast and music — a whole new way for children to experience the fables. I celebrated with a meet-and-greet at the North Babylon library to introduce the audiobook and its narrators.

Sharing the message far and wide
I also sat down with Mary Ellen Sherlock again on the Lighthouse Keepers podcast to talk about my books and the difference they’re making in my community and beyond. I collaborated with the Walt Whitman Birthplace for National Poetry Month and a Juneteenth celebration, and I met with Camp Goodmourning to donate copies of The Brightest Star That Shines Tonight for children who have lost a parent or sibling.

The kids who make it all worth it
Through it all, my favorite moments are still the simplest ones — the family days at Adventureland, the bowling events, and the readings where a child’s face lights up. Every summer around my birthday, I do something special for the children and families who support me throughout the year.

As I look ahead, I’m still writing, still reading, still judging student poetry contests, and still dreaming up the next celebration. This journey has been a crazy, enjoyable, mind-blowing adventure — and more adventures await.
I always use the power of poetry to help inspire and uplift. Poetry actually saved my life.
